I am not a given
I am not someone who will wait around forever
Until you pull yourself together
Unless the Good Lord tells me to
I am not a given
I’m not your trophy
Being nice doesn’t mean you can take from me
I won’t say yes to everything
Just what the Lord the requires of me
I am not a given
Only God is a sure thing
Only God makes promises He can’t break
Only God loves with ease
Only Gods death saved you and me
I am not a given
You are not a given
But as long as we are breathing
And the Good Lord gives us a reason
I will love you until your season comes
And if it never does ,
I will praise God
That’s a given
