Today my blog will be a bit longer than most because I wanted to share a psalm. A psalm that has been on my heart for days, I wrote a hymn once for this psalm which I lost but wrote another recently I sing often lately. This psalm encourages me, in the mist of so many changes in my life, inwardly and outwardly, where my hearts desires are changing, my soul growing, my mind transforming, my spirit being flexed and stretched and pushed and pulled. With my life being full of people who walk away, including often times myself.
I have come to realize, in order to say yes to God. Often times, it requires a No to others. It isn’t a matter of right and wrong. But what’s good and what is Gods plan for my life. I have always lived a life of different seasons, I moved around almost every year of my childhood, I liked it though, I don’t consider it a disadvantage but more an advantage to the life I have been called to lead of traveling and missionary work, I have a heart for this whole world and it compels me to travel and love on it with Gods guidance and instruction.
Being in God’s presence helps me, it assures me, it protects me, and those who have truly given God the chance to be their protector and provider and source of strength and refuge, knows what I mean. We all come from a life in the world, it quite interesting how much I have changed but yet stayed the same, being with God brings me back to my natural organic state of perfection and though through my life in the world , I have dents and scars and habits that I must fight to break daily , with God I have already won the war, I just must endure my daily battles. As you beloved.
There is one particular verse below that has been carving itself into my heart. “7 A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you” Living this life of a missionary , of someone who is full time in ministry and a minister of the Gospel and church planter, people will fall by my side, I will encourage some , I will lose some, I will keep some , I will have to let go of some , people will impact me , whether with disappointment , hurt, betrayal , or with honor , respect , satisfaction , and love.
As a soldier of God, a woman of God, a disciple of God, we are purposed, we should thrive , not settle for maintaining , though I will not belittle maintaining because that is the root of diligence and in order to thrive one must be diligent and intentional and purposeful , so beloved , may this psalm today may this post today encourage you. We are in need of the community of believers to rise up and have community , to look out for one another and encourage and exhort one another , but also to hold each other accountable in love and mercy and gentleness,. Don’t be discouraged by those that fall around you , have faith in God that if you stay in His presence , nothing will come upon you. And any challenge you go through is meant to strengthen and keep you and build you for your purpose. A thousand may fall by your side beloved, but my pray is
” YOU FLY”.
Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God
91 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler[a]
And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
8 Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
