Who I used to Be (Poem) Devotional

Ephesians 4:24 KJV — And that ye put on the new man, which after The Most High  God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

She came back
Last night
That look in her eyes
Told me that she wasn’t alright
She told me
She done some things
And tried to avoid me
But realized she couldn’t
Forever
She asked for forgiveness
I said
You’re already forgiven
But that doesn’t mean
Im just going to let you in
I forgive what you’ve done to me
And the ones I love
And the Almighty
But I’m sorry
You can’t come back to me
Forgiving I can do
But forgetting
I won’t do it
The memory of who I used to be
Is the only thing
That humbles me
And reminds me
I was in the world before
So when she comes back
Of course I feel bad
I want to let her in
And comfort her
But the cost of that
Is a cost I can not afford
That’s why Christ
Paid it with His life
So that I could
Transform and redeem mine
So I look her straight in the eyes
And say,
Today is not the day
Then
From her eyes I look away
And up towards to the sky
I send a prayer way up high
And lift my hands and my praise
That  I was tempted
But wasn’t swayed
In His truth I stayed
And now I can say
I’ve done some things
Ain’t no body hurt me like I hurt me
I hurt the ones I love
So much some have gone
But I forgive myself
I have to forgive myself
Forgiving I can do
But forgetting
I won’t do it
The memory of who I used to be
Is the only thing
That humbles me
And reminds me
I was in the world before
So when she comes back
Of course I feel bad
I want to let her in
And comfort her
But the cost of that
Is a cost I can not afford
That’s why Christ
Paid it with His life
So that I could
Transform and redeem mine
Faithfully
