Building (Discipline) – Poetry Devotional – 8/19/25

Proverbs 25:28 KJV

He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

I am building

These walls of discipline around me

Precept by precept I am building

Each room filled with

Your goodness and righteousness and mercy

With a roof of peace

I build my temple

And strong tower

Within my heart

Where You stay Holy Father

For it is through Your Power

And Your Son,

That I am able to rule this heart

With Your perfect love

And with Your Holy Spirit

I am growing in discipline

Learning how to rule my spirit

So that no longer I am

Like a city who is without wallls

Down and broken

But instead my temple is Your

Impenetrable fortress

Where there is no way for the enemy to creep in

For You Father are my protection

My main defense

And those intrusive thoughts

Have been replaced with Your wisdom

And I am grateful for Your strength

And the yoke that I carry

That guides me for it is not heavy

And because of my joy

I never grow weary,

But always stay praising and praying

And building
