( I wrote this yesterday but just got home right now , it is 12:25 am in San Diego right now )
Honesty, a simple word . But yet so hard to do. At some point or another I’m sure we have all been in a situation where we have battled with honesty. Whether it is from telling someone they have food in their teeth or infidelity.
I consider myself a pretty honest person. I believe honesty is the best policy because inevitably the truth will reveal itself. And ones trust is better kept when you tell a truth even if it hurts than a lie that will not just hurt but kill the relationship later. But I too have been the one to struggle with telling someone their zipper is down or there is food on their face because of the awkward conversation that could follow .
But then there is omission is different it isn’t the act of not telling the truth it is the act of leaving out facts. It isnt exactly being dishonest but it can be called deceiving. And it some legal situation illegal.
So my prayer today is for us all. To be as honest as we can be. But to use discretion as the key. The time , the season, the person, the situation , the surroundings, all matter when it comes to being honest at times whether you may think it is good or bad news because good news in a bad season will end up being bad news for some reason. It’s like eating tasty food while having a cold all good tastes the same it’s a waste to eat something super tasty you could have saved for when you weren’t having a sore throat and no taste buds.
So let’s be real beloveds , honesty is the best policy , but I think we can all agree too it’s not the honesty that hurts at times it also is the delivery of the honesty , who it’s coming from , how it’s coming and how to deal with it.
I am not sure why this was the topic today , to be honest 
perhaps there is someone out there who needed to read this , I would like to think someone needed an encouragement to be honest to come clean , and that another person needed to reminded that you can be honest but you don’t have to be mean , and another needed to be told omission can hurt too. How would you like it if someone just withheld something super important from you , like an illness , pregnancy, etc. My ultimate prayer is for you to use discernment and direction from the holy Spirit .
